4 Ideas for a Perfect Day in Ormond Beach

Often overshadowed by Daytona Beach and other locales, Ormond Beach is a hidden gem in Central Florida. Here, there are many unique getaways and activities you won’t find offered anywhere else. That’s just part of the reason why more people who visit the area return to call Ormond Beach home for all or part of the year.

In fact, during Bike Week and other major affairs, this area is flush with activity. Event attendees often comment on the friendly nature of the people here and the overall welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re just visiting or you’re lucky enough to live in Ormond Beach, there’s always something new and exciting going on. Here are some of the most popular ideas for a day you’ll remember forever.

1) Relaxing at the Beach

Ormond Beach has the distinction of “The Birthplace of Speed.” In the early 1900s, people from across the country would gather on the beach to race vehicles. That pastime eventually blossomed into today’s massively-popular sport of NASCAR.

Even back then, people were well aware of the beauty and potential of this area. Today, it’s fun and easy to spend a whole day on the beach with your loved ones. Beach access points are scattered along the coast, or you can choose a location with modern amenities.

For instance, Andy Romano Beachfront park features accessible restrooms, grill/picnic areas, a splash pad and playground for the kids, plus family-friendly beach access removed from driving lanes.

2) Shopping and Dining Downtown

After you’ve soaked up the sun, head downtown to see what’s going on. You’ll find a wealth of shopping and dining options available. While big name brands are nearby, many people opt instead for the quaint, local shops and cafes situated along the city’s main artery.

Downtown is also home to some of Central Florida’s best-loved attractions, including the Ormond Beach Memorial Art Museum and Gardens, the Ormond Beach Environmental Discovery Center, The Casements, and several picturesque public parks.

3) Seeing the Sights Around Town

There’s no shortage of other exciting activities when you’re ready for some exploration. For example, both Bulow Creek State Park and Tomoka State Park are nestled just off the Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail (affectionally dubbed simply “The Loop” by locals).

Bulow Creek features the world-famous Fairchild Oak. Nearby, the Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park offers an interesting glimpse into Florida’s past. The Ormond Beach Historical Society also offers a monthly bus tour where you can learn about early settlers to this area. You’ll also see attractions not currently accessible to the general public, such as Three Chimneys Historic Site.

4)  Unwinding at Your Custom Home
